Agriculture: Farm & Ranch Shops

Prouty Construction builds durable, energy-efficient agricultural buildings—farm shops, ranch shops, machine sheds, heated work bays, and wash bays—engineered for heavy use and harsh climates. We offer ICF, steel, and conventional framing options, managing permits, sitework, concrete, and MEP so your shop is ready for tractors, trucks, and daily operations.

What we build

  • Farm & ranch shops: clear-span shells, heated service bays, welding/mechanical bays, tool and parts rooms, offices, and restrooms.

  • Machine storage & aprons: tall overhead/hydraulic doors, exterior paving, and heavy-duty slabs sized for equipment.

  • Wash bays & utilities: sloped floors, trench drains, hose bibs, air lines, power drops, and lighting/ventilation designed for real-world use.

ICF advantage (real-world example)

Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) deliver continuous insulation, airtightness, and a reinforced concrete core—cutting fuel use and improving comfort. On a recent 60′ × 80′ ICF farm shop, interior work continued while outdoor temperatures were below 0°F. With tarps over the overhead door and a 125,000 BTU propane heater, the crew reported the heater only needed to run once or twice during an eight-hour day—a practical illustration of ICF’s energy savings and heat retention.

Design features & options

Radiant-heated, insulated slabs • frost-protected foundations • high-bay LED lighting • daylighting windows/translucent panels • 120/240/480V power as specified • welding outlets and air lines • hose reels and wash-down packages • ventilation/HRVs and HVLS fans • chemical/seed storage rooms (per spec) • mezzanines and storage lofts

Concrete, foundations & sitework

We install slabs-on-grade and flatwork with graded base, compaction, vapor retarders where required, and reinforcement sized for equipment loads. Control joints, dowels, and surface finishes (broom, trowel, sealed) are selected for traction and durability; exterior aprons are pitched for drainage and built to resist freeze-thaw and de-icing. For foundations, choose ICF or conventional: footings, stem walls, and frost walls designed to local snow/wind loads. Where appropriate, we add Platon® foundation waterproofing, perimeter drains, and correct grading to keep interiors dry.
